In early May, Ahlsell Labs went to Gothenburg for our first innovation speed dating experience!
The concept of match making large corporates with tech startups to fuel innovation is growing in the Nordics, so we were keen to try it out and see how it could apply to our way of work. Behind the event was Ignite Sweden , a national initiative co-funded by Vinnova, Energimyndigheten and Tillväxtverket whose overall aim is to help startups to find their first large customers.
During the three days that took place in conjunction with Elfack, they set up over 110 meetings involving 18 corporates and 35 startups.
For the Ahlsell Group the team at Ignite arranged 14 match making sessions. We were specifically looking for solutions that could enhance aspects of our logistics business. One of the most important considerations for our customers when choosing their supplier is the reliability on delivery. They need the right products at the right time and in the right place to perform their work. This is why we operate three central warehouses across Nordics who work around the clock to make sure customers have a next-day delivery, whether that be to an off-shore platform in Stavanger or to the most traffic dense part of Stockholm city.
Over two intense days, we got to meet our list of companies for 20-minute pitch sessions. They were focused, to the point, and with one clear objective: do we have a match? And in fact, with several of the companies we spotted a match - either right there and then, or in emerging opportunities for the future.
We left Gothenburg with massive inspiration from the startups, the Ignite team, and with great new connections in the larger AI and IoT community. We now look forward to advancing the discussions with some of the startups and hopefully start working together!
